A Fiber Grounded Birdie

Now why didn't I think of that?!  My friend, Inky and Quirky, Donna commented on my paper Grounded Birdies thinking they were fabric.  That they were stitched to their background must have led her to believe they were fabric.  A fabric grounded birdie...why didn't I think of that?  So I immediately had to make him in fabric and mail him off to Donna.

I thought what a cute eye that button would make.  With his Route 66 eye, he couldn't help but be a good traveler.

I pressed freezer paper to the back of the background fabric and rolled it into my typewriter and typed "lovely day" right on the fabric.  I loved how nicely that worked!  This fabric is magic fabric that I printed a scrapbook paper to.  It is quite tightly woven which is most likely why I could type on it so nicely.

On the back.....

*** I had to crop off the top as I forgot to cover my own address ***

.....I wanted to write just a wee bit more than the postcard space allowed.  So I made a tiny/ envelope and glued it tightly to the space, putting my little note inside.

Happy Mail Day to you,
xxx
Annie

How darling! Love the birdie and the little envelope on the postcard is a great idea too. Birdie has a long way to travel and will see many sites along the way with that Route 66 eye!!!!

This here is the reason why I say bloggy friends are always the best as they can make and send such happy creations such as this! My lovely Annie made my day with this cheery little bird, it's now fluttering happily in pride of place in my livingroom too ;)
Biggest hugs to a wonderful lady

"Rolled it into my typewriter"!!!!!! Since I am an antique, I totally know what you mean but the younger generation must be scratching their heads. Can you even still get ribbons for those??? Love the bright border - see you don't ALWAYS use that black/white stripe. Happy travels little bird.

Love the way you didn't have enough room to write....with your incredibly small perfect script...so you added an envelope for a note. You are just too clever, Annie! You really do need to be 'discovered' (like I thought was happening with the studio cleanup), but until then all of us who follow your blog get to be constantly amazed and delighted with your wonderful art.

Good switch to fabric, glad it arrived safely. Birdie's eye looks good.
Like Ramona I was wondering if you could still get ribbons for typewriters, that would be an easy and more accurate way to print on fabric.
The back (or the front if you are a postman) looks good too, that's a terrific little envelope and you do have pretty stamps over there.

Such a clever idea to take Donna's thought and create this fabric grounded birdie post card. Uber cute and the note within the small envelope is brilliant. I am amazed that it arrived safe and sound.
Well done dear. June JOY...
