Ravens
this week's design challenge at
A blog of weekly postcard theme challenges
The Raven
The background is printed fabric from a digital collage sheet by Digital Collage Sheets.com, the leaf is from a silk fall arrangement and is floating. Held in place by the stitching on the branch and the raven.
Ravens and crows and blackbirds all fall into the same bird box to me. I love them for Halloween and Fall decorating, but the real things can be pretty annoying at times.
The artists participating in these challenges are mostly paper crafters and digital design crafters. But all mediums are welcome, so I couldn't resists participating this week since I've been playing around with Halloween/Fall birds lately.
Autumn Day was traded to Sandra. She is known as ladyinblack1964 on Flickr.
Blackbird In Fall is still traveling through our postal system to a surprise recipient.
Happy Fall
Annie
Amazing art, as usual. You are so awe inspiring. Truly, from the bottom of my heart!
ReplyDeleteThey are absolutely stunning Annie, thanks so much for sharing them.
ReplyDeleteThese are all fantastic! WOW!
ReplyDeleteThey really look like "real" birds too! Awesome! Not me! All my birds turn out goofy!
ReplyDeleteAnnie, these are great!!!
ReplyDeleteBTW, I wanted to tell you that I changed my blog name. I know you were a follower of my old blog but I could not get my followers to come over to my new blog, although I see them there. I just wanted to let you know if case you still want to follow me. Thank you,

These postcards with the black birds are so unusual and your birds look quite innocent and possibly harmless. I always like your backgrounds too, the checkerboard is a bit different. Thanks for the link to Sunday Postcards, looks intriguing.
ReplyDeleteGreat Halloween season cards. As always, you are so creative!
ReplyDeleteWow, I adore your stitched cards! They are all beautiful and so creative and unique. The recipients are very lucky!
ReplyDeleteCindy :)
Happy fall to you Annie. I really prefer your textil ravens to the real ones.
ReplyDeleteI love the first one Annie! You've really captured the character of the raven!
ReplyDeleteMore beautiful 'works of heart' Annie! Great Fall designs...thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteFantastic fiber art- beautifully designed with so much embellishment and color!
ReplyDeleteAmazing postcards! I love the strong black birds with those gorgeous orange leaves. Beautifully done, as usual! Thanks so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteFabulous art work, love the decorative design and the stitching elements.
ReplyDeleteFantastic post cards Annie!! I love the detail in each one.
ReplyDeleteI love The Raven! You always offer such a creative view of whatever you sew.
ReplyDeleteWhat awesome postcards!
ReplyDeleteGreat crows or ravens. I love how each one is a bit different yet obviously a crow. I tried some crows yesterday half heartedly. Now I want to do some more. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteYou are A MAZ ING! I love each of them.
ReplyDeleteExquisite fabric collage, Annie! Other amazing pieces on your blog, too
ReplyDeleteMore fun postcards. I have to agree, I like your fabric versions much better than the real life ones outside my window.
ReplyDeleteYou inspire me to try this, such amazing creations :)
ReplyDeleteQuoth the Raven - Awesome. Actually a blackbird(s) is what I have considered for the next time I go postal (ha ha!) Love all the fall colors too.
ReplyDeleteOh these are all fabulous! You make the raven, for a change to me, seem quite friendly. Such lovely work :)
ReplyDeleteBeyond amazing, all of them.
ReplyDeleteYou are amazing! I love them all but especially like the first one. How clever you are! I'm so glad you share these pictures with us. You're an inspiration.
ReplyDeletewonderful - i always love combinations with sewing!
ReplyDeleteI think that your blackbirds are way more friendly looking than the real ones that visit our pasture and woods! These three post cards are wonderful, Annie! Is the second one embellished, or is the fabric multi colored? It almost looks like you used some beads on him!
ReplyDeleteThey are all three gorgeous!
These almost make me like those noisy critters. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWow... your colors and blackbirds are just awesome in these fall-themed fabric postcards! Your Blackbird in Fall especially 'jumps out' with it's colors and the setting...
ReplyDeleteCan't help but quote Poe...."In there stepped a stately Raven of the saintly days of yore" (line 38).
They are so lifelike, I think they might jump out and grab a candy corn off of my desk! (Not that I eat while reading my favorite blogs!!)
Susie
That Raven in your first postcard photo is just fabulous! Love them all, but that one I like the best.
ReplyDeleteI am sew jealous of your talent. These are awesome.
ReplyDeleteCame by to have a look after I read Ellen's post.
ReplyDeleteYour cards are gorgeous!
All three are great, Annie! I think the middle one is my favorite. I especially love the background, the tape measure and the pattern on the bird.
ReplyDeleteHow CUTE are your Ravens...so perfect & fun for Halloween!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing...
Susie
