The challenge theme for Sunday Postcard Art (SPA) is
Still Life
I wanted to use this bottle stamp and I wanted to use postage as the bottle labels. Marei has shared with me generously some stamps from her collection. Among them were these awful bug stamps. I don't like bugs on anything. With the exception of cute artsy bugs like dragonflies and butterflies. I wanted to remove them from the pile...without actually throwing them away. Bug Juice came to mind. Which made working with them more humorous than creepy.
Now I need to make this bug infested postcard go away. Let me know if your are a bug lover and would like to find it in your mailbox?
Hugs,
Annie
i am a bug lover (ha, not the living ones actually...) and i think your postcard is GREAT!!
ReplyDeleteI don't mind bugs, as long as they're on postage stamps. But I have a friend who would LOVE this (she even has a dragonfly tattoo), and how much fun would it be for her to receive this out of the blue? I suppose eventually I'd have to tell her that I was in on the secret.
ReplyDeleteI find Bug Juice far creepier than actual bugs which I like, they often have lovely patterns and colours and can do good things in the garden.
ReplyDeleteArtistically, this is very clever with the bottle stamp and the bug postage stamp as the label, and as always with Annie-postcards is beautifully and meticulously made.
Bug Juice! Such a fun idea! Nothing like a great idea to make the creepy bugs not so creepy!
ReplyDeleteBetty
Such a fun postcard, Annie. The postage stamps make really cool labels.
ReplyDeleteSuch fun to look at and very clever!! :)
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I would love to see you enter this in the Craft Stamper Bottle Challenge (link: http://craftstamper.blogspot.com/). I hate real bugs but the stamped ones are pretty cute. :-)
ReplyDeleteNo bug lover here.....but that is a cute stamp
ReplyDeleteAnnie the bottles with the stamps go so well together. Of course I would have chosen other stamps rather than bugs, unless like you say dragonflies, butterflies or ladybugs aren't as creepy. Do you have a boy in your life like a grandson, nephew, etc. who would like something buggy?
ReplyDeleteEEK!!! Bugs are not my favorites, but your idea is really cute.
ReplyDeleteThis is some of the best stamp work I have ever seen awesome job and very fun too.
ReplyDeleteSo cute! Loved bug juice (which is what we called Kool-Aid when we were little)!
ReplyDeleteWOW Annie, you have created so much depth in it that it looks like it is the lid of a tin can, so life like amazing, thanks for sharing and the inspiration...
ReplyDeleteTasty. I like the stamps for labels.
ReplyDeleteWhat a generous lady you are, I personally love it,everything handmade is gorgeous. X
ReplyDeleteA wonderful card - great idea. Love the use of the postal stamps.
ReplyDeleteHa! I had no idea you didn't like bugs! Those bug stamps are pretty spectacular and really, who doesn't love a Praying Mantis? Glad you were able to use these even if it was just to get them out of your house. :)
ReplyDeleteBrilliant way to use creepy bug stamps.
ReplyDeleteThis is adorable!
ReplyDeleteOkay - now I am laughing! To quote you -- "awful bug stamps". Great for Halloween I would say. Or you could always slip the juice into someone's drink. Preferably someone who is not dear to you! What a hoot you are and your post card is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThat is if you like creepy crawlies
and beetle juice stains on your blouse.
Sandy xx
EEK!!!!! I totally let out a squeal of delight!!! This is so FREAKING COOL!!!!!! WOWZA!!! I think I need to get on the ball making more mail art so i can guilt you into swapping with me!!! lol
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid-a looooong time ago-bug juice is what was served to us every meal at summer camp. Of course, it wasn't until many years passed that I realized bug juice was really just Kool Aide. :)
ReplyDeleteYour postcards are wonderful!
Totally fun and not creepy at all. Great way to preserve those stamps and enjoy "bug juice". Clever Creative Bliss Dear...
ReplyDeleteI think your bugs are fantastic!
