Now why didn't I think of that?! My friend, Inky and Quirky, Donna commented on my paper Grounded Birdies thinking they were fabric. That they were stitched to their background must have led her to believe they were fabric. A fabric grounded birdie...why didn't I think of that? So I immediately had to make him in fabric and mail him off to Donna.
I thought what a cute eye that button would make. With his Route 66 eye, he couldn't help but be a good traveler.
I pressed freezer paper to the back of the background fabric and rolled it into my typewriter and typed "lovely day" right on the fabric. I loved how nicely that worked! This fabric is magic fabric that I printed a scrapbook paper to. It is quite tightly woven which is most likely why I could type on it so nicely.
On the back.....
How darling! Love the birdie and the little envelope on the postcard is a great idea too. Birdie has a long way to travel and will see many sites along the way with that Route 66 eye!!!!
ReplyDeleteI think this is the most creative post card yet! Love the eye on the little bird and that awesome idea to attach a little enevelope with a note. Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThis here is the reason why I say bloggy friends are always the best as they can make and send such happy creations such as this! My lovely Annie made my day with this cheery little bird, it's now fluttering happily in pride of place in my livingroom too ;)
ReplyDeleteBiggest hugs to a wonderful lady

"Rolled it into my typewriter"!!!!!! Since I am an antique, I totally know what you mean but the younger generation must be scratching their heads. Can you even still get ribbons for those??? Love the bright border - see you don't ALWAYS use that black/white stripe. Happy travels little bird.
ReplyDeleteLove the way you didn't have enough room to write....with your incredibly small perfect script...so you added an envelope for a note. You are just too clever, Annie! You really do need to be 'discovered' (like I thought was happening with the studio cleanup), but until then all of us who follow your blog get to be constantly amazed and delighted with your wonderful art.
ReplyDeleteGood switch to fabric, glad it arrived safely. Birdie's eye looks good.
ReplyDeleteLike Ramona I was wondering if you could still get ribbons for typewriters, that would be an easy and more accurate way to print on fabric.
The back (or the front if you are a postman) looks good too, that's a terrific little envelope and you do have pretty stamps over there.
I love this litte bird with his little round body and Rt 66 eye. How very clever to put a little envelope on the back.
ReplyDeleteSuper cute!! I had no idea you could type on fabric!!!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! You can type on fabric??
ReplyDeleteHow cute is that! I thought we were the only people who still owned a typewriter. ;-)
ReplyDeleteLol I thought they were fabric too... you are so talented!
ReplyDeleteSuch a clever idea to take Donna's thought and create this fabric grounded birdie post card. Uber cute and the note within the small envelope is brilliant. I am amazed that it arrived safe and sound.
ReplyDeleteWell done dear. June JOY...
A for adorable! Love the button eye.
ReplyDeleteHow lucky can a girl get!! Congratulations Donna on being given this Cheery Chirpy! Annie, the card and the binding are fantastic!
