Walk Your Pets

This week the theme for Sunday Postcard Art is WHEELS.

I actually started this postcard for last week's theme of PETS.  Needless to say, it didn't get done.  I struggled with the background.  When I finally gave up, I checked what the next theme would be.  Wheels.  My pet walking cart has wheels!  I still had a chance to finish this postcard.  But I was still struggling with the background.

I worked on the background, but I didn't like it.  Not one little bit.  I finally decided to cut out the images and use my favorite background technique of finding a scrapbook paper that would do the job.  It came with sunshine.  I added Wink of Stella to the fish for his glistening scales look, but the camera doesn't pick it up well.  The tiny silver dots is the very fine Stella glitter.

The correspondence side...

Happy Mail Day!

  2. Lots of fun speculation here. Who is pulling the wagon? Is the blackbird the supervisor or has he just hopped on for the ride?
Clever mailart with postmark wheels and even the sun looks like a cog wheel. I haven't even started worrying about the fish in his small fish tank. He doesn't look too bothered with the travel arrangements.
    The back is beautifully minimalist.
    It's a fascinating postcard, Annie.

  4. Great Postcard! It makes me giggle to think of walking a fish! Also, how wonderful that the paper you found had a sun already! I think that was def. meant to be the background!!! I love the wink of stella touch!!! I'm addicted to that stuff! I just refilled my clear pen for the 1st time! (yes you can refill them with glimmer sprays!! i used the perfect pearls mist since i already had it with clear fluid and gold glitter.. close enough to the silver for now)

  8. Ha! Love the whimsy of this fish on wheels with the black bird supervising--or just hitching a ride. And the wheels are cancellation stamps? How cool! Another winner, with the back as charming as the front!

  9. this is great. love the simplicity of it, and that you always decorate the back of your postcards. I'm intrigued to see the background you 'hated' perhaps it just didn't work with these images?
ive had a wink o stella pen for about 6 months and have yet to open it.

  14. A perfect use for the scrapbook papers we all still have in our stash, Annie. Like Mandy, however, I'm curious too see the background with which you were so displeased. In any event, your postcard turned out beautifully. A work of fun art, which is spot-on for this week's SPA theme. Well done.

  15. Hee-hee, love that you are taking your fish for a walk, brilliant interpretation of the theme Annie! If I could bear to use any of my hoarded scrapbook paper, using it as backgrounds would be perfect! (instead I just leaf through it and drool LOL) Thanks for sharing your wonderful postcard, Deb xo
