Fabric Boxes and Postcards

While I continue to work on my art quilt, I have stitched up a few quick and easy fabric boxes.

I found the instructions on Pinterest where they are officially referred to as thread catchers.  But I don’t have any threads to catch, so they are boxes to me.  I seem to have a bit of an obsession with tiny boxes.

This next purple one made the perfect tiny thank you gift when I filled it with Lindor chocolates and Starbursts.

I will send this next one off with chocolates also when the weather gets cool enough to not melt the chocolates while traveling.

They are pretty simple and fun to make even with all the hand sewing they require.  I made the first one as instructed.  But I thought it to be a bit flimsy for my liking.  So I added fusible interfacing to one side for the next ones.  Much better!

After attending the Madison, Wisconsin Quilt Show and picking up some new Halloween fabrics (like I needed more), and cute patterns for making postcards, I had to get started on Halloween fabric  postcard greetings.

Such fun.

Now back to my art quilt..........

  1. The fabric boxes are adorable and perfect for tiny thank you gifts. All of the seasons would have suitable fabrics, and I can see Christmas and Valentines boxes for small gifts. :)

Oh, how I love the fabric postcards! Love the pumpkins in a row with their delightful expressions and the goofy smile on the last pumpkin! You are on a roll, Annie!

  6. Your fabric baskets are great fun and so useful for those little gifts. Would also use up some fabric, the aim of every quilter possibly, this one anyway.
Oh how good to see the new fabric postcards. The pumpkins are so funny, love the group pumpkin "photo" and the one pumpkin "selfie".
Also good to see your striped trademark binding. Love the background and striped fabric too.
    Hurrah for Autumn and Annie-postcards.

  7. Ok, so how on earth did I miss this post? I think I've been on the go too much lately. Anyhow these are so cool. The boxes look challenging... my hand sewing is probably even scarier than my machine sewing! And can we talk about these Halloween postcards?! OMG. They are awesome!!! You are making me want to visit a quilt show! Not that I need to come home wanting to make any more new ideas, or like I need to buy more fabric. Lol. (Halloween fabric has been a week spot... that's the "extra fabric" I told you I bought and started to cut before I decided to cut myself off to finish my other UFOs...i just love fall and Halloween ♡)... just bought needles last night after work to start knotting Chad's quilt. Hopefully I can work on it tonight, but I'm going to be gone most of today (which has been the case most days lately) then my nieces quilt will be next. (maybe next... year. Lol)

  9. Seems I'm not the only one that gave been too busy and missed several of your posts. I will admit, I love seeing all that you have accomplished and that you got your sewing mojo back! I also went to the Madison quilt show and picked up some fun things that are waiting some attention. Those pumpkins faces are too cute!
