It’s looking a lot like Christmas inside, outside and on the Web.
And in the mail.
This year’s fabric postcards.
Question: Do you have/make odd sewing decor? I’m just looking to confirm my weird.
I’ve tossed my snipped thread tails in these jars for quite a long time. A few bits of ribbon and bobs too. And on the left is the oddest. I think they are called dog ears. The bits that stick out when sewing crosswise...like from pinwheels and half square triangles.
Back on the normal front of life is my calendar journal.
Too much personal stuff to cover up. I just want to get back to life being all fun and games on a daily basis.
I’m working on a Christmas quilt and pillow that I am not thrilled with. It’s hard to finish a project that isn’t turning out as hoped. But I refuse to store it unfinished! They will get done.

I can tell you, I have those jars, too. So quite normal. When the jars are full, I make pincushions to fill this into. I love your Christmas cards, as I love all your cards. And of course, your journal is fantastic. Have a nice Sunday.
ReplyDeleteDog ears sounds right because that's what it is called when a page corner is folded in. Fabric post cards, would make nice buntings and oranments.
ReplyDeleteYou could make tooth fairy pillows with the threads bits.
Happy Christmas!
Love the fabric postcards! The borders, it's always the borders that give them oomph! I have a snippets jar, but not one for dog ears. I save all kinds of odd bits and often find something to do with them. You've filled this calendar with making and baking!
ReplyDeleteWell, now that you've confirmed your weirdness, I will be in company! I have saved my threads for a few years and have quite a bowlful of rainbow colors. This week, I will look for a glass jar to hold them and then I'm gonna quit collecting them! Your postcards are just the sweetest! I find Christmas sewing really helps me find the holiday spirit, so I need to get back in my sewing room soon...and turn off the news. Happy holidays!
ReplyDeleteWhat a colourful idea your orts jars are. I have little collections of snippets from a few projects which I saved with the intention of felting them together - but have not got round to it yet! Lovely Christmas postcards and good luck with finishing those Christmas projects. xx
ReplyDeleteI believe that gal from Primitive Gatherings - Lisa Bonegean, collects those dog ears. They do look cute in a jar. Adorable cards. You continue to inspire.
ReplyDeleteThe fabric postcards are so colourful and comforting somehow. I can see that they are so well made. I agree with jenclair above that the way you make the borders gives the cards an extra design jump.
ReplyDeleteHow interesting that you keep fabric and thread tiny bits in jars. The best I can offer is a small see-through box of small fabric pieces although I did recently throw out a much larger box of much smaller pieces.
I hope in December (this month already!) that you get back to fun and games and don't have to hide anything from us in your diary calendar.
Your postcards are adorable! And what a clever idea with the scraps and jars. Your calendar looks like you've been busy. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas!
ReplyDeleteThose jars are the coolest way to display thread! It looks much better than mine, which is on the floor or in the garbage can. I need to put a jar by my machine. I always love your cards and these are no exception. So cute!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, how did I miss your post four days ago? I always look for your calendar page around the first of the month. Probably too busy with being on the phone on "hold". I love your post cards they are too much fun and your striped bindings/borders are always so perfectly well done. I think your odd sewing decor is just right especially the different size jars.
ReplyDeleteThese are so stinkin cute! You always come up with the cutest postcard designs!!! I was thinking the other day it would be amazing as your kids or someone who has a whole bunch of them someday sews all the postcards together to make a deco quilt♡♡♡♡ you are so talented. I'm so happy to get to see all your fun stuff
ReplyDeleteOne year I put my snipped dog ears into glass ornaments for Christmas decorations.
