Lady Butterfly Tag

The theme is still Anything Goes at Tag Tuesday

I was inspired by Sandra’s Tag to pull out a couple of face stamps to try her background technique.  Which for me, eliminates the need to paint the image.  I am pretty pleased with the front of this tag.

Both stamps are by Stampington & Company

On the back.  I failed at choosing colors for the backside as well as bad placement for the face (which I tried to correct with Gesso).  This entire tag was a learning experience anyway, so I kept it.

I used my Neocolor II crayons.  I scribbled across the tag with the crayon then wet my fingertip and rubbed it over the colors.  I did the same technique with the seam binding.

I wanted to tone down the colors around the images so I brushed some Gesso around the image with kind of a dry brush technique.  I hoped the Gesso would take up the color underneath.  I stamped some IndigoBlu images around the outside edges.  To finish I tinted the edges with Walnut Stain Distress Ink and Black Archival Ink.

April 2021 is already over!  It was another month full of fun and art.

I’m hoping May will be full of the same.

  1. Glad you had a great April. I did too, but May will be even better as I am now fully vaccinated and able to mingle and get out a bit more. I will keep my fingers crossed you have a wonderful April also. Your latest tags are wonderful. I like those Stampington images. They look great on tags. Hope you have a happy new month Annie. Hugs-Erika

  2. Your tags are fantastic. It is amazing to me how much creativity the tags have, like fine art collages at a gallery.

  5. My head spins when I read about your innovative techniques and I do like how you accompany the words with the corresponding photo which makes it all clear.
This tag is rather beautiful. I'm not sure how much of the lady is a stamp but I always admire the extra bits you add to your art like the numbers and the (stamped?) stitching. You've given the lady some lovely colours merged together.
I've no idea why you think the back is not as good as the front or matching. It looks perfectly fine to me. I'm interesting in your use of these crayons and with your choice of colours and the placement of the face more at the side and the words and the classy use of colours on the edging you can colour me mega-impressed by both sides.

  6. Wow Annie, you have been busy creating. I have been following all your posts but my comments have not been posting. I love your tags and your twinchies and your explanations about all the steps in creating them. I really like the butterfly and the face on todays tag and I think the back of your tag is wonderful as well. My thinking is that you alone know why it doesn't measure up.
