This time around for the Alpha Challenge the letter assigned to us for word illustration is U
I've selected the word Ulster.
A great benefit of this project is learning words I've not ever known before.
Never before have I ever read practically every word in any dictionary...who does that?! But when this project reaches it's end, that's exactly what I will have done! Who woulda guessed.
xoxo
Annie
And we are learning right along with you. Did you hand draw the Ulster pattern - great job! I see this challenge is also to find a word that you can depict with a picture! Double challenge!
ReplyDeleteAwesome.
ReplyDeleteUllage would be another good U word.
ReplyDeleteDon't know where you come up with the images to embellish your words, but you do a bang-up job! Love the ones you choose!
ReplyDeleteLovely page
ReplyDeleteI hadn't realised by the end of the year I will have 'read' an entire dictionary!
How much have you retained? Is your vocabulary considerable more impressive now?
ReplyDeleteHi Annie, it's always good to learn something new isn't it? Great pages - love those pattern pieces, and your gentleman looks very dapper. MMx
ReplyDeleteNice one, Annie, I don't think anyone else will have chosen "Ulster". I like the pattern too. What a lovely vintage dictionary this is turning out to be.
ReplyDeleteEven with the picture I had to go look the word up. Great job with the picture and the pattern. Love it!
ReplyDeleteNow that is a new word! I'm glad that went out of style.......love your dictionary pages!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fascinating project you've given yourself! You're going to be one learned gal when this is finished! I love this man's ulster, brilliant vintage image. Julie Ann xx
ReplyDeleteNot many people can claim that! But then, you and your art are quite wonderfully unique.
ReplyDeleteWhat an unusual word Annie and beautifully depicted! I am also envious of your dictionary with the finger indents:)

I love this project and how it stretches us to read the actual dictionary. Wouldn't this be a fun school project for a teacher. If they didn't want to use an actual book they could merely photocopy pages. I have to tell you I actually used your last word selection. I told my neighbor he was very fop. Hahaha...not so funny to him. I had to explain to everyone around. At least I had a good laugh. Happy Creative Hearts Dear...
ReplyDeleteApart from being artistically pleasing your entry is also educational!!! :) Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteHi Annie, a new word for me too! Love that character, reminds me of Shirlock Holmes. Hugs Frea
ReplyDeleteDo you use these new words every so often too? I think reading the whole dictionary is quite an accomplishment.
ReplyDeleteI only manage to read the letters with fewer words the others I just skip through. U is definitely filled with negatives but your word is great.
ReplyDeleteWe are all learning new words from your dictionary - the gentleman looks very regal!
ReplyDeleteLove seeing your pages, Annie! This has been a great project so far. Your gentleman looks handsome, not like a fop. LOL
ReplyDeleteHey Annie - how very clever!! I did not know this word. My fathers, an ulster. All gentlemen should have an ulster. You even supplied us with a pattern. How kind of you!

ReplyDeleteI've learned a lot of new words too, thanks to your creative genius. Thanks for another! I'm a little worried that the end of the alphabet is fast approaching...then what? Are you going to start over just for us?
