A Japanese inspired quilt.
These fabrics were so nice to sew with.
The colors are so rich and bold and laced with gold.
The backing is a quilting cotton, not a Japanese fabric. With the gold speckles, it went with the Japanese fabrics beautifully. It’s a lot of red, but so pretty.
There were enough scraps to make a pretty 20” pillow cover.
**the cover is just lying over a pillow for the photo**
More of the scraps make up the backside of the pillow cover.
With still more scraps, I made a snap pouch and wristlet keychains.
The fabrics are a bit heavier than quilting cottons, so they make into a nice weighted throw quilt ready to cuddle under.
I’m trying to avoid continually accumulating scraps. There are just some bits left. Enough to make a postcard or two.

So pretty! I love all your coordinating projects! I need to be better at using up all my scraps after finishing projects but most of my projects seem to be using up my scraps accumulated over many years. The problem is the bins never seem to get emptied! 🤪
ReplyDeleteGorgeous quilt Annie.
ReplyDeleteYou do have fun with your scraps! I love the quilt, such beautiful fabrics and I do love a touch of gold in a fabric. Lovely finishes all. xx
ReplyDeleteI've never known anyone who gets so much out of fabric. You know how to stretch fabric, that's for sure. You have a plethora of great pieces and they all look different except for the quilt and pillow. This is impressive and everything is quite lovely.
ReplyDeleteAll of your red projects are so pretty! Is that a newer Bernina machine I see a peek of? How does it compare with your older Bernina?
ReplyDeleteI love all of the things you have done with your Japanese fabric. There can never be too much red for my taste but sometimes there is just the right amount and you hit the mark.
ReplyDeleteI like the way you have used your scraps for things that are useful. It really is the smart way to handle scraps.
So many beautiful projects! The fabric is gorgeous.
