Water Colors Envelope Art

I felt like a real artist.
I don't normally call or categorize myself as any type of artist.  I just play is all.

But while I worked on this piece of envelope art, I actually felt like an artist.  Maybe that is only because I was recreating an artist's paint tin.

I am going to say it out loud.  I'm pretty pleased with myself.  This is SO not me.  And although there are several things about this envelope that I would change, I'm surprised I got this far with it.

I saw some altered paint tins in the magazine, Artists' Café, made by Connie Govea Stuart.  I LOVE them!  And I thought I could maybe make an envelope art.  I started with just dividing the envelope in half.  Then I drew lines and rounded corners.  The lines are not precise.  Shocking for me!

Anyway, the paint pats are too big, the words are too high and I'd like to find a paintbrush ephemera or clip art to add to it, but other than that, I'm so surprised I did this!

I want to mail this envelope, but not for awhile.  I have to enjoy it, as I still don't feel like I made it.  I'd like to try another, but I'm not very good at making some things more than once, and the second usually doesn't turn out better.

Thanks for indulging me with this post and sharing my moment with me.

Well gasp, Annie, mega gasp! Not because I don't think you are an artist, no, you always have been but, gasp - how did you do this? I've enlarged at it and peered at it, and can't work it out. It's terrific. OK, no more of this I can't draw stuff - ever!

I think this is awesome! I thought you collaged a picture of a paint tin onto the envelope so you made it quite realistic. Very impressive!

Annie this is wonderful. If I hadn't read what you wrote I would go away believing it was a photo. Stellar job.

Am I the only dummie who kept looking for the envelope? Annie!! This is amazing, I thought it was a photo. My dear, you are an artist. :-) And a good one at that.

I love it. But what I really love is that YOU feel like an artist. It's a great feeling when it all comes together and you feel legit! I sometimes have a hard time calling myself a quilter because I'm only now getting to the actual quilting bit, and I'm on top of the world when I feel like I can actually scrawl my signature across the bottom because it's scrawl-worthy. :)

I told you that you are an artist, but nooo, you did not believe me! I am delighted that you now know you are.
It is amazing! You make me laugh, oh you just drew a few lines here and there. Are you kidding! You have talent girl. Way to go!

Wait...I truly thought this image was of a vintage paint tin. To read that you created it knocks me out. This is F.A.B.U.L.O.U.S.!!! This would be so awesome in NLWM.
You should be very proud of yourself dear...
