Spam Bloggers
-----  what a sad, sad life  -----

When I first began blogging a bit over a year ago, the spammers didn't know I existed.  What a wonderful time of blogging life, eh?  Well, "anonymous" has found me and apparently we are new best friends.  Anonymous leaves comments on my blog several times a day now.

That's ok, I don't mind.  I know right where the delete button is.  And I commend Blogger on a job well done.  Those spam comments never actually post to my blog comments.

I'm not going to turn on word verification to deter them either.  That would be annoying to you.  And it's so, so simple to just go into my comments and clean out the spam and even easier in my email to just click delete on messages from my new best friend "anonymous".  This does not make my life miserable.  I see no good reason to make your life miserable with word verification.

Blogger, keep up the good work against spam bloggers!

Some very lovely blogging friends have expressed concern in my less frequent posts.  Well, I've been busy with other than the pleasantries of stitching.  Please make note that this is not by choice.

Sewing time is drastically limited these days and when I do get time, it's been consisting of small postcard projects...that will have been noticed I'm sure.  Good thing for me I LOVE making those dang things!  Thank you for missing me.  More sewing time will come and I will be ready for it!

I have been working at a snail's pace on something a little different.  Actually a lot different for me.  I'll be back soon...

I blocked anonymous comments because the only ones I was getting were from those spammers. Blogger does a good job blocking them, so I won't be turning on word verification either. I look forward to seeing your "a lot different" project. :O)

I'm the same as Carol, once I didn't allow anonymous comments the spam stopped. You might want to give that a try. We all understand when other things in life take priority. We'll still be here when you are.

Totally agree, Annie! Blogger does a great job blocking the spammers. Wish my email did as good a job! I will not be turning on word verification either! It is easy enough to delete. I do miss seeing all your creative projects. Can't wait to see what's coming!

I almost turned the word verification on again but I was too lazy to do it. I'm hoping the spammers have moved on from both of us.
Can't wait to see what you've been working on. I do check up on you quite often just in case you have something new and amazing for me to drool over. Masked guy just isn't doing it for me. ;)

Annie, My thoughts exactly. Amazing how the spam keeps on coming. I get more spam comments in my inbox than regular comments most of the time so I delete them.

I have another blog and the only comments that I receive are spam and my inbox was always full to overflowing, so I just stopped receiving anonymous comments there altogether. However, blogger will only let you choose to have comments from everyone (including anonymous) or you have to choose between receiving google users only or open ID users. I don't understand all that, so I had chosen google users. For that blog it doesn't matter, because like I said I rarely receive comments there.

Good to see you :-) **I** love your postcards, as I think you know...LOL!! FYI, yours is one of the few blogs I would do word verification for IF it became necessary, which I am SO glad it hasn't!

Great photos Annie! Take all the time you need - we will wait.

I'm with you! Nothing more frustrating than word verification...especially when I have to decode it more than once.

Does the mystery project mean we have a book on the way?!? Can't wait till you have time to make more...anything!

I had a few spam comments but only on one or two particular posts. Must be something to do with the labels that are used for searching. I hope you can tell what you are working on soon. I do hope you make some time for more postcards. I just love them all.

Nice to hear from you and looking forward to seeing your new project of interest! Your postcards are so beautiful, I can see why you enjoy making them...each one is so unique and appreciated! Now I know what Anonymous looks like...great graphic! Take care of yourself...we will still be here when you return!

So glad the anonymous comments aren't getting the better of you!

I get tons of spam too. If you figure out how to just block the anonymous ones, PLEASE let me know. You KNOW we all love your postcards!

exactly the same problem i had. i always deleted them, but they seemed to multiply every day. now i switched to not allowing anonymous comments, and it is ok. i think most people who visit me have a blog, so there is no problem. by every means i wanted to avoid word verification, as i HATE it and seldom comment on those blogs who have it on. annoying.

I really like your take on things Annie and enjoyed this share on Anonymous... It's good to see you and better knowing you're taking time just for you. Thank you for sharing!

Sorry to hear you are not getting time to make your lovely artwork, Annie, but I think we're all here to admire it when you do find time. As for anonymous, the paparazzi of bloggers, well said. I don't know why Blogger allows anonymous commentors, it doesn't seem unreasonable for someone who wants to comment to have to leave a valid name. Maybe something to ask Blogger to consider?

Carla said...

I know what you mean. No spamm and then wham but like you say Blogger does a great job. I do wish there would be a way and maybe there is that our valid commenters could leave a name and email is there not part of google.

There is a setting to not allow comments on blog posts over x days old. All the anonymous comments I was getting were on really old posts. This stopped the annoying spam for me.
