The theme this month at Art Journal Journey is LANGUAGE.
As I played around with this page, I thought about people who talk in circles.
I stamped a large stamp on a mixed media paper. Aligned my circle dies over the writing, taped them with Washi tape so they wouldn’t move,
then ran them through my die cutting machine
To get a variety of circle sizes.
I glued the circles to my page using a spray glue. When the glue was dry, I wet the circles with water as well as parts of the page outside the circles. Then added watercolors sloppily around the circles in light and dark tones.
When the paint was dry I stamped writing in the two largest circles with black Archival ink.
Using a circles stencil I drew circles around the outsides of the paper circles with a black Zig Writer marker then added scribbles over the drawn circles.
Lastly I scraped modeling paste through different stencils on the page outside of the circles.
I thought the modeling paste would take up some of the watercolor but it didn’t. That was a surprise but I liked that it remained white.
Of course I kept thinking what should yet be added. I liked the page as is so I decided not to ruin it with overkill like I usually do. It is so hard for me to learn to STOP!
I didn’t intend it, but I now see the scribbles as noise vibration (that could be heard along the telephone lines way back when) of those who can be so good at talking in circles.

What a great idea for Elle's language theme. I love the idea of talking around in circles. And you made such a super page. I like how you made your rings and I love the white modeling paste texture. Those splashes of color, well it is a fantastic page Annie. I am so glad you shared this page with us at AJJ Annie. And happy new week too. Hugs-Erika
Annie, this is incredible. I love how you share everything you do to create a beautiful entry. This is a real gem. I love the talking in circles aspect of Elle's theme. This is a perfect entry and I think you stopped at the exact correct spot/moment. Thanks beyond belief for another great entry for Art Journal Journey, dear.
Clever idea for the theme, Annie! I say this each time but I do love getting a glimpse into your creative process! I know, I am repeating myself! Yakety Yak! 🤣
Love this, very cleverly done Annie! And yes, some people talk in never ending circles! Thanks for joining us at AJJ, much appreciated, hugs, Valerie
Although I don't have time for anything stamping/scrapbooking right now, I am enjoying learning a bit of your process of your journaling. I have never worked with modeling paste.
I love this art journal page!! I would never have made something so cool, because I'm too crazy about paint because controlled and perfect. But it truly is perfect in the final project! Thank you for sharing your awesome art
Thank you again for sharing all the steps along the way to making another amazing page. I am always surprised by your responses to a challenge. I think artists have a broader, more in depth point of view when interpreting an idea. I see this all the time as your share your thoughts and steps interpreting the challenges.
I love the circles, pretty colors and the text look.
Gorgeous! Love the colors
I love it. I could see it either way. The correct message is in the circle and gets distorted by the circle filters going out. Or you have so many messages coming in and filter them to only hear what you want to hear. Sadly, that sounds about like America today.
Lovely colours and good to be talked through the process. Great finish. xx
I love your idea of talking in circles - what a great take on the language challenge - and I also love the white modelling paste against the colours, it looks great. Thanks for joining me for the Language theme at Art Journal Journey this month Elle xx
All done with circles and that is pretty amazing. I love that you left it at the end but you did do a lot of fun work to get (not) simple art. With your commentary the page takes on a brilliant life. I like how you stamped writing inside the circles - I would never have thought of that and how you painted splashy watercolour round the cut-out circles. The choice of colours - a minimalist palette - is excellent and restrained. It's a very assured painted page.
This is a wonderful journal page full of ideas with the rings and the writing. The design is fantastically beautiful!

Very cool to focus on talking in circles. I know several people who do this. Years ago I was an auditor and we audited this one man frequently. When we asked him a question, he would start talking, and talk in a circle hoping we moved to the next topic. We would just ask him the same question again another way over and over until we got the answer. We called him the circle talker and had to train people to talk to him. Your page reminds me of him and most politicians. Love your colors and details! Hugz
So beautiful and so clever! I think we all know a ciecletalker!
Another great page--with a clever response to language. Talking in circles is something that happens more often than we like to admit!
What a fabulous page about something that happens so often...we all know someone....me ?...of course not!
A fabulous entry at Art Journal Journey, Thank you, Chrisxx
I know nothing about what you are doing with this type of art except that I love looking at it and reading about how it came about on paper and in your head. On this piece I love the white.
