Blitzen Snowman

Don't faint... I've been sewing again.
And now I am enjoying this wonderful Winter guy this year.

I found him at the Madison, WI Quilt Expo this last September.  I NEVER buy quilt kits.  NEVER.  But I loved the fabrics he was made up with.  I immediately asked if they had him in a kit.  YES!  And of course it was the last one.  They didn't need that sales pitch because I was going to buy it no matter what.  LoL

I thought he was wearing a ball cap until I gave the pattern a good look.  This is when I discovered he is a basket.

I don't much care for the basket idea so I changed him up giving him his top hat.  I adore him!  I love that he's festive enough for Christmas and not-so-much Christmasy that he can remain hanging all through Winter.

The fabric collection is blitzen by basicgrey for Moda
The pattern is Sue's Snowman Basket by Jan Patek Quilts Inc.

He's out of storage now and all made up.  That fits right into my plan to get stuff out of storage and all made up.

Happy Winter!

OMGoodness!! He is adorable. Good call on changing the hat. ;)
I love snowmen decorations because they can stay out all winter. Sometimes my big snowman needs a reindeer laying beside him. :)

I really love your snowman, and you can have him up the whole winter through. If you have weather like here, the only snowman possible is on the wall. I fear we will get some snow after Christmas.

Oh yes, he much prefers wearing a top hat to being a basket (who wouldn't), and it's a very fine top hat.
Your choice of fabrics and your design looks way better than the pattern picture, and your snowman looks strong and masculine, like he is not going to put up with any nonsense (like melting), but he looks friendly too.
I like the fabric with all the little snowmen.
The straightforward quilting is just right.
Nice work, Annie.

I have some of that fabric that i need to use up too. Thanks for listing the fabric and pattern. I think that is a great idea. And we could all use your little snowman's starry eyed outlook!

I like your idea better than the basket. I made my first " Annie inspired" tree skirt using Blitzen and bought 4 more charm packs of the same and jelly roll for our Basement Diva's annual Jelly roll race. I guess you know I love the fabric.

Such a handsome Frosty fellow, Annie! The top hat is the perfect finishing touch. He's certain to add a smile and festive cheer (and it seems we both have snowman making on the brain... ;o).
