Mixer Mat

My new mixer arrived earlier than expected.  It’s always a pleasant surprise to receive something sooner than expected.  These KitchenAid mixers are heavy!  It was suggested to place a towel under the mixer so that it can be moved around on the counter easier.  Well, a towel is fine for those who don’t sew.  But I had to have a quilted mat, don’tcha know.

I had a couple of quilted scrap fabric pieces that had been my sewing machine cover.  After I made the cover, I got an acrylic extension table for my machine.  The cover no longer fit well.  So I took it apart.  There were two pieces.  The smaller piece was a perfect size for a mat under the mixer.  I just needed to bind the edges.

I was glad to be able to use one of the pieces.  It can barely even be seen under the mixer.  Which is kind of a shame, but it’s out of the way of ingredient messes and makes it much easier for me to pull the mixer out for use.

These Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars are SO delicious!  I hope the link works.  Tip:  They take a long time to set to be able to cut them cleanly.  Several hours.  I decided next time I make them I would cut them the next day.  Also, the recipe suggests a 12 bar servings.  For us that is too large of a serving.  I cut them much smaller.  Although it was very hard to walk by them without just sitting down to eat them all!  YUM!

We’re getting plenty of snow this month with more to come shortly!

I love when the snow sticks to the trees.  So beautiful!

Its piling up weekly!

And it’s gotten down right cold too.  I’m staying inside sewing and baking.

Beautiful pictures. It looks like you got a lot more snow than we did. Your mixer pad is so cute. Great way to use those scraps. And thanks for the cookie bar recipe. It looks so good! Can't wait to try it. Enjoy this beautiful day,

Congratulations on getting your Kitchen Aid Mixer!!! The mixer pad is such a good idea and is extremely cute. I'm a huge fan of those mixers and have had one since 1985. They're great for kneading bread too. Thank you for sharing that cookie bar recipe.

Congrats on your new kitchen machine! I'm green with envy; those things are such powerhouses! Love your mat, and the cookies do look tempting. I enjoyed seeing your photos on Flicker, and now on your blog....lovely!

Your mixer mat is great idea; I especially like the 3D pinwheel patch in the corner and your signature striped binding. I think I will make one for my little Ninja which is sitting in a cupboard on a paper towel so the suction cups don't stick to the shelf, you always give me the best ideas.
The chocolate cookie bars look really nice under your glass dome. I am hesitant to try them as I would certainly eat them ALL.
We are having much less snow this winter than most years. I am happy about that but I too love to see the trees with all the branches dressed in snow.

Your scrappy mat is really beautiful. The orange and lime pieces give it that extra jump and all your other fabrics go together so well. Of course you have the perfect binding too.
I am going to make these biscuits but am worried about having to leave them to set - several hours? - would cutting off a piece and putting it in the icebox work? It is imperative to "test" every bake right away. I was puzzled by the stick of butter but Mr. Google tells me that it is 4oz, so that is alright. We don't have sticks of butter here, it comes in a something grams (about half a pound in old money) packet.
Isn't snow beautiful when you don't have to drive anywhere. We've had some decent snow on and off for several weeks but it doesn't lie very long but looks so pretty when it is there.
