For December I have the honor of being the guest designer on the
The monthly challenges are always ‘anything goes’. You only need to use at least three different mediums for your project.
I’ve altered a craft bag into a Christmas gift bag. It’s December, it’s Christmas time, my house is filled with Christmas music and I’m full of the Christmas spirit!
First I slopped white acrylic paint onto the front of the craft bag. Let it dry then sprayed and dribbled some Distress Mica Stain, Snow Flurries (blue) and Peppermint Stick (red).
After that all the embellishing began. Snow flakes cut from glitter paper with cutting dies. Stars cut from silver metallic paper, including some dots from the cutting die.
‘Merry’ is cut from red metallic paper using a cutting die and the words were stamped with Archival Ink.
I glued rhinestones in the centers of the snow flakes and tied a bow around the handle with colored twine pieces.
I was finished with the bag until I saw the pinecone and berries wired pick that has been in my stash forever almost. The bag looked okay but not satisfyingly so. When I tied the wired pick to the bow, THEN it was finished!
And you know me, even the back has to exhibit a little interest.

Congrats on your Guest Designer spot @ Creative Artiste, what an honour to have you in the December hot spot this month Annie. What a beautiful creation you have prepared for us all.
I love the idea of crafting with the sounds of festive tunes playing in the background, I may do just that to get me in the creative mood this weekend.
I smiled at you thinking it was finished then those found pinecones started off the creative process all again.. Your gift bag will certainly light up the face of whom ever receives for sure. Beautiful mixed media creation.
Wishing you a December full of fun and festivities.
Creative wishes Tracey xx
Super cute gift bag!! What a fun project that must have been.
What a great gift bag! That’s such a gift by itself. And you’re right… the pine cone is just perfect.
A great gift bag! I'd love a visit to your house with all the Christmas spirit!
Wow, what a beautiful Christmas bag! Those mica sprays look stunning with all that sparkle and shine and I love your design with the colours, stars and snowflakes - perfect 😀. The addition of the festive foliage and gems finishes it beautifully! Thanks for the inspiration and for joining us as Guest Designer over at Creative Artiste! Take care and Happy December! Hugs Jo x
It does sound jolly fun in your house.
You've made a marvellous gift bag. Who cares now what is in it, I just want to admire the bag. Blue Snow Flurries - how pretty. The snowflakes and stars are so pretty, your cut-outs are immaculate. I like your use of coloured twine too - I've got lots of coloured string which I've not used but it will now be used on parcels this Christmas. I like the little tag on the back, it's charming.
What a fun bag Annie. And a good idea to have gifts bags on hand. Your house sounds like a fun place right now with music and Christmas spirit. My daughter came home last night (she lives 2 hours away) and said the house had turned into the Christmas wonderland. I guess we have some fun spirit here too. Happy December. hugs-Erika
This is beautiful Annie! The pinecone and berries are the perfect finishing touch!
